CLASS:

Basic Weather For Aviation

DESCRIPTION:

Every pilot needs to know and appreciate the weather. The single most important decision that every pilot makes for every flight (whether to “GO” or “NO GO” ) is based on weather. So what do we mean by “weather”? What is wind? Where does it come from? What the heck is “density altitude” and why is it so important to pilots? How can we tell how high the base of a cloud is? What makes ice so dangerous and how can we avoid it? What’s the relationship between hot air, cold air and rain? This overview class will explain what to look at and what to look for - and a bit about what to expect to see happen based on what is happening now.
